2020 Team Member of the Year

Posted on:

Throughout the year, Lee Health & Rehab Center nominates a Team Member of the Quarter. This individual is nominated by their peers as an individual who exemplifies service excellence and embodies the CCR mission to provide peace of mind to those we care for: our patients, residents, families, and staff. One winner is selected from the quarterly winners to receive the Team Member of the Year award. Unfortunately, COVID-19 delayed the award presentation for 2020.

The Team Member of the Year award recipient receives a $500 cash award and a certificate of recognition presented by the Director of Operations, Center Administrator, and the recipient’s Supervisor. In addition, a celebration dinner was held with the winner’s teammates, family, and friends in attendance. The Lee Health & Rehab Center winner then competes with 12 other Team Member of the Year award winners to be selected for the Deborah L. Petrine Award. This team member receives an award presented by the Commonwealth Care of Roanoke, LLC President, Director of Operations, and Center Administrator at the winning team member’s Center.

Lee Health and Rehab Center would like to proudly announce Brenda Sturgill, housekeeping aide, as our 2020 Employee of the Year. Brenda is married, has twin daughters and a grandson. When asked about her family, she smiled and said she has spent her life providing them care and is so very grateful. Brenda previously worked as a housekeeping aide at a hospital for 18 years but said she has never felt more appreciated anywhere else as she is here.

Miss Brenda is truly a light in my life. I joke with her by telling her she is the grandma I never had but always wanted,” said Ashley Jones, Administrator. “Brenda brings a kind spirit with her wherever she goes. Brenda has worked in the healthcare industry for many, many years but said she never felt appreciated until now; Miss Brenda, you are loved, appreciated, and admired by all. I aspire to enlighten people in the way you have. Thank you for making me and all around you better. We love you dearly!”

After being selected by her co-workers and peers for this honor, we have decided the best way to describe Brenda, and her attributes would be to let the employees speak of the impact she has on them daily.

“When I first started this job, Brenda Sturgill welcomed me in with open arms, checked on me, and made me feel loved. She is one of the best, and I am beyond thankful for her. She always has a smile on her face and makes sure you do too. I love Brenda, and if anyone deserves it, it’s her.”
Ally Bowen, Housekeeping Aide

“Brenda certainly deserves to have been named Employee of the Year. She is a great role model for new employees in her department and has always taken pride in her work. Her love for our residents is shown daily by the way she interacts and checks on them. The world would definitely be a better place if it had more “Brenda’s” in it. Her smile and personality are contagious, and she puts those around her in a better mood. Team Lee is proud to have her.”
Lisa Gilliam, Human Resources

“Brenda always goes above and beyond in her role at the center. She always has a smile on her face and always puts a smile on the faces of the residents and her co-workers. We are truly blessed to work with Brenda and she very deserving of this honor.”
Natasha Wolford, LPN

Congratulations, Brenda, and THANK YOU for living our mission and providing Peace of Mind to those we care for!
