Featured Resident: Beatrice Jones

Beatrice Jones

Bea celebrated her 101st birthday on Sunday, March 6. She was born in the Robbins Chapel community, she had seven brothers and sisters. Bea received her teaching degree from Radford University, and was a teacher in Lee County.

During WWII, Bea worked throughout the summer months in Detroit, for the Chrysler Corporation as a ‘Rosie the Riveter’, and would return to teaching in the fall. After the war, Bea married and moved back to Detroit.

She was blessed with three beautiful daughters, Laura, Marsha and Doris. Upon retirement, she and her husband Woodrow, moved back to Lee County. Bea enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening, reading, crossword puzzles and is a member of the Campground United Methodist Church.

Bea has been a resident with us since 2006.
